Duel at Chin: Alex Aiden vs Mei Ashabi

It was a sunny day near the village of Chin. The air was clear and fresh, the village happy and bustling. But Mei had heard reports of Fire Nation ships being seen in the area, and thus she and her and her squad were on their way to Chin. She doubted there would be trouble though; Chin was a small village barely large enough to be put on a map. What interest could the fire nation possibly have here? With a sigh, she rode her ostrich-horse into the center of the village and looked around. Her squad waited behind; Mei would investigate briefly, then turn back towards Omashu.

Some of the villagers stared at her curiously; it was not often the army bothered to send any soldiers out to Chin. And when they did, it was usually more than one. Mei simply ignored the looks and addressed the village as a whole.

The Earth Kingdom has received reports that Fire Nation ships have been spotted along the coast. Any of you seen any signs of this, or any other Fire Nation activity? Such as ships or soldiers?

Mei’s gaze swept the assembled crowd, searching for anything out of the ordinary. But would she find it?

Alex stood at the back of the assembled villagers his hands in the pocket of a long cloak that went from his neck down to his ankles covering the black jeans and shirt. His hair was black and spiky with awhite in the dead center. Eyes the color of a forest stared at the woman whith a cold hatred, Alex had been sent inside to spy since his young age not many paid attention to him, his small stature made doubly sure he wouldn't be noticed.

Alex moved quitely through the group his eyes never leaving the woman on her steed, his fingers clinched into a ball as fire leaped slowly to his finger tips. Bending his knees Alex leaped from the crowd into the air swining his hand around releasing a thick fire lash that was aimed not for the woman but her steed. He had no intention of fighting someone from horse back since it made hitting the person harder. the lash swung through the air and if connected would slam against the leg of the beast burning away flesh and crippling the creature.

The boy had leaped from the crowd out of no where making the villagers stare dumbfounded before running away at the sight of a Fire Nation fire bender even a young one. His hatred burned in his very stare at the woman as more lashes dropped from his fingers as he prepared himselfto fight her and her group. "Earth nation cowards, no glory and no honor. You are weak and will bow before the might of the Fire Nation."

Mei frowned as she noticed a commotion in the back of the crowd. Before she could open her mouth to speak, however, a small cloaked figure launched into the air. His hand lashed out, and from it a lash of fire appeared, whipping towards her. Not being in contact with the ground, she could not raise an Earthen barrier to defend against it, and as it turned out her ostrich-horse was not quick enough to avoid the flame. The poor creature screamed as the flame lashed it's leg, and Mei barely leapt off in time to avoid a broken leg. She landed in a crouch, with her right hand on the ground ahead of her bent left leg. Her right leg was extended and touching the ground, and from it a small fissure extended towards where the young fire bender's leading foot would land. Or where she assumed it would based on his stance and trajectory before she jumped off the ostrich-horse's back. Her head was facing downwards as she rose, listening to a high voice attempt to taunt her. She assumed it was a teenage girl, older than 13 but no older than 15.

You presume to call me and my people cowards and dishonorable, yet you attack an unprepared opponent and belittle spectators who do not wish to be caught in the cross fire. Prepare yourself. Then she looked up, and shock crossed her face as she realized just how young your assailant was.

A kid? You've got to be kidding me! She laughed as she took up an aggressive, yet defensible stance, left side of her body leading with hands ready. Come on, kid! Why don't you try that again? Mei laughed and stomped her left foot, sending another fissure towards the kid, aiming to throw him off balance. She'd be ready to block his counter attack if he chose to make one.

Alex lTwisted in the air to a corkscrew landing away from the fissure and slid back his left hand down while his back legs split out and his other arm was behind him outwards giving him balance. the second fissure traveled towards him and moving quickly he rolled to the side sending out three smaller fire lashes, two lashes went for both sides of the woman while the third came from above. If earth was raised they would block the lashes but leave gashes from the heat on them.

Alex leaped backwards and smiled. "Ha you earth benders are as weak as they say. Can't you do anything right?" Alex ran forward releasing his lashes as fire enveloped his fists, he leaped into the air and came down bringing a flaming haymaker down aiming for the womans skull. If connected it would leave a 1st degree burn and the fire would leap to her face.

Mei saw the fire coming, but simply raised and levitated a slab of Earth to deflect it by gesturing with her left hand. The heat and force of the fire left a gash in the shield, but it held. Mei then punched with her right hand, right in the middle of the kid's continued taunting. The kid managed to leap under it, but it was a close thing. She assumed the kid would get the hint and actually try now, but she was disappointed; he simply leapt at her using the same technique, aiming for her head she judged. She merely raised another slab of Earth in the last instant before the lashes hit her, then did the same thing again by punching. Being airborne and already bending fire at her, the kid would most likely be hit by the slab of Earth, the force of which, if it hit him (which it should), would knock him backwards about ten feet.

Stay down if you know what’s good for you, kid! Don’t make me kill you! She shouted as she raised an outcrop an inch from the side of the kid’s head and . If it’d hit, it would have either 1. Knocked the kid’s head off his shoulders, 2. Flipped him into the air and concussed him, or 3. Broken his neck and tossed him aside, something the kid would hopefully know.

On the off chance the kid wasn’t hit, Mei would roll under the kid and try to get some distance to use her Earth bending talents.

Well, as it's been a while and I need to get on with Mei's life, I'm going to operate under the assumption that Alex was killed. If/when he comes back, it can be revealed that I only killed a double. Or a twin. Or something. Anyway, thread closed.
